Steering Rack Guide Replacement
NOTE: During removal/installation, do not allow dust, dirt, or other foreign materials to enter the gearbox.
1. | Loosen the locknut (A), then remove the rack guide screw (B), the disc washer (C), the spring (D), and the rack guide (E) from the steering gearbox.

2. | Remove the O-ring (F) from the rack guide, and discard it.
|
3. | Coat the new O-ring with grease, and carefully fit it on the rack guide screw groove.
|
4. | Grease the sliding surface and circumference of the rack guide, and install it onto the gearbox housing. Wipe the grease off the threaded section (G) of the housing.

5. | Install the disc washer and the spring, onto the rack guide.
|
6. | Apply sealant (Three Bond 1215 or Loctite 5699) to the threads on the rack guide screw, then install and tighten it to 25 N·m (2.5 kgf·m, 18 lbf·ft). Loosely install the locknut.

Adjust rack guide screw. After adjusting, check that the rack moves smoothly by sliding it right and left.
